Largest fast-charging park opens in Korneuburg district – accessible and with seal of approval

Fast charging without barriers: SMATRICS EnBW relies on modern infrastructure and accessibility in Leobendorf

In Leobendorf (district of Korneuburg), drivers of electric cars can now charge their vehicles at another public fast-charging station. SMATRICS EnBW, operator of public fast-charging infrastructure, has installed the new fast-charging points in the parking lot of the KGAL retail center in Leobendorf, Hammerschmied-Straße 2. The location is conveniently situated directly at the intersection of the A22, the Donauuferautobahn, and the A5 Nordautobahn highways.

“The fast-charging park is a good example of how the local economy, municipalities, and businesses can work together towards the energy transformation. I am especially delighted that state-of-the-art technology is being used here, while accessibility has also been considered. This means that everyone can truly benefit from this project,” says Christian Gepp, Mayor of Korneuburg and Member of the State Parliament, expressing his delight.

Thomas Landsbek, CEO at SMATRICS EnBW, adds: “Electric vehicle drivers should be able to travel without restrictions. With the SMATRICS EnBW fast charging points right in the middle of a retail center, we are improving the public charging infrastructure and enabling customers to charge their vehicles conveniently and accessibly while they shop.”

Customers have access to eight state-of-the-art charging points with a capacity of up to 400 kW at the site. Depending on their vehicle's power consumption, they can charge enough electricity for a range of 400 kilometers in just 15 minutes at these high-power charging points.

Retail center receives seal of approval for accessibility

Parallel to the opening of the charging park, the Leobendorf site was also the first retail center to receive the bronze accessibility seal of approval from ÖZIV Burgenland, an association for people with disabilities. In accordance with the specifications, the charging stations were also built to be accessible: wide areas in front of the charging stations, clear markings, and broader access options make parking, operating, and charging easier for all users.

Alexander Pamer, Managing Director of KGAL Asset Management Austria, emphasizes: “The ÖZIV seal of approval confirms that our retail park and our services are accessible to everyone without barriers. We are proud to serve as a role model for other companies and to actively contribute to a more inclusive society.”

Hans-Jürgen Groß, President of ÖZIV Burgenland, says: "Even today, accessibility cannot be taken for granted. It doesn't just take commitment, but also quality in implementation. That's why ÖZIV Burgenland, together with ÖZIV Tirol, offers a seal of approval for accessibility, so customers can be sure they're getting what they're promised. KGAL Asset Management and SMATRICS are thus breaking new ground in Austria in the area of accessibility with a focus on quality."

SMATRICS EnBW drives grid expansion

SMATRICS EnBW is consistently expanding its fast-charging network in Austria, as seen here in Leobendorf. Fast charging is crucial in public spaces in order to meet the demand for charging points. This allows drivers to conveniently integrate charging into their routine, even for those without private charging facilities.

With currently more than 900 charging points at over 200 locations throughout Austria, SMATRICS EnBW operates the largest full-coverage fast-charging network in Austria. SMATRICS EnBW is also working with renowned partners from various industries to further expand the network. The fast-charging locations complement the Austria- and Germany-wide EnBW HyperNetz for drivers. SMATRICS EnBW supplies all of its fast-charging points with 100 percent green electricity.
