Release Date: 21.03.2025

Expansion of fast-charging infrastructure at site of METRO in Wiener Neustadt

METRO has been committed to future-oriented energy efficiency for years and is therefore successively equipping its locations with fast-charging infrastructure. As part of another location partnership with AMIC Energy, in which METRO Wiener Neustadt is providing space, there are now six state-of-the-art high-power chargers for customers and employees.

  • Depending on the vehicle's power input, electricity for a range of 100 kilometers can be charged in just ten minutes.
  • Payment is made easily with the SMATRICS charging card or charging card from roaming partners or via the direct payment terminal with VISA, Mastercard, Google Pay or Apple Pay directly at the charging station.
  • All fast charging points are operated with 100 percent green electricity.

METRO Austria CEO Thierry Guillon-Verne: "We are committed to further expanding electric mobility for our employees, for our customers locally and in the delivery business, and are therefore continuously expanding the charging infrastructure at our locations. Currently, there are high-power chargers at METRO Vösendorf and METRO Wiener Neustadt. The locations in Simmering, Salzburg, Langenzersdorf, Klagenfurt and Linz will follow before the end of this year; Dornbirn, St. Pölten and Innsbruck will be equipped with HPC chargers in 2026.“

”As a 360° e-mobility provider, we are pleased to be equipping and servicing further METRO locations with public fast-charging infrastructure together with AMIC Energy. Thanks to our long-standing and successful collaboration with METRO, SMATRICS has been providing seamless and future-oriented charging solutions for various users since 2018, currently also at the Wiener Neustadt location for AMIC Energy, with more locations to follow. Here, customers and employees have access to six state-of-the-art fast-charging points with a capacity of up to 150 kW while shopping. We are proud to be working with two strong and professional partners to further expand the public fast-charging network," says Ronald Lausch, Chief Sales Officer of SMATRICS.

Günter Maier, Managing Director of AMIC Energy, adds: "Efficient mobility and sustainable energy supply are crucial factors for the future - especially for business owners who depend on reliable solutions every day. By cooperating with METRO, we are creating a high-performance charging service directly at METRO locations, which will particularly benefit self-employed and business customers. Our fast-charging stations enable simple and emission-free charging with 100 percent renewable energy – without registration or a contract. Together with METRO, we are driving forward the sustainable transformation of the retail and mobility sectors."
