Summer goes electric: SMATRICS brings energy to vacations
As a leading company in the field of charging infrastructure, SMATRICS is looking forward to a very active charging summer: e-mobility users not only benefit from the increasing number of charging parks, but also from the option of paying directly at the charging stations with a credit card.
With the start of the vacation season, not only are temperatures rising, but so is the volume of traffic. More and more travelers are going fully electric: In Austria, the number of electric cars has increased by almost 51,000 since last summer – a rise of around 30 percent.
Electric mobility is also gaining momentum in Germany: over 290,000 additional electric cars are on the roads there this year – an increase of 20 percent. This development is driving up demand for public charging infrastructure, especially in tourist regions and along typical vacation routes, particularly in the summer months.
Well charged for vacation
“We are well prepared for the e-mobile holiday season,” emphasizes Hauke Hinrichs, CEO of SMATRICS and COO of SMATRICS EnBW. “With the expansion of our fast-charging network and the construction of larger charging parks, we enable fast, smooth charging even during busy times – for a relaxed holiday experience with an electric car.”
One in eight fast or ultra-fast charging points in Austria is already provided by SMATRICS EnBW. Currently, approximately 870 charging points are available in its own high-speed charging network at a total of more than 200 locations throughout Austria, and the number is rising. In general, Austria's charging infrastructure remains one of the best developed in Europe.
Tips for a relaxed charging experience in summer
If you plan your vacation well, you can make good use of charging times and avoid waiting times. SMATRICS recommends the following three tips for e-mobility users:
- Use large charging parks: Charging parks along highways and main traffic routes offer good accessibility, no or short waiting times, and ultra-fast charging of up to 400 km range in just 15 minutes. Since last summer, new charging parks have been opened by SMATRICS EnBW in St. Veit and Poggersdorf (Carinthia), St. Pölten (Lower Austria), Vorchdorf (Upper Austria) and Spielberg (Styria).
- Charging with added value: Many charging points are located at retail partners, restaurants, or shopping centers - ideal for making good use of breaks. Currently, more than 250 SMATRICS EnBW charging points are in operation at retail partners such as BILLA, BILLA Plus, IKEA, METRO, and ZGONC, as well as at the designer outlet in Salzburg and at various STOP SHOP locations throughout Austria.
- Convenient and easy charging: The new Direct Payment Terminals powered by SMATRICS enable payment directly at the charging station. Just in time for the holiday season, all new and existing charging stations from SMATRICS EnBW have been equipped with this feature. Customers have a choice: Payment can be made by debit or credit card, or with the SMATRICS charging card or charging app and the appropriate charging tariff.
Networked across Europe
The charging network is also growing beyond national borders: new charging parks with 20 and 12 charging points are now available in Brixen (South Tyrol) and Palmanova (Friuli) for fast and safe charging.
The comprehensive roaming network from SMATRICS provides a total of 150,000 charging points throughout Europe – for unlimited charging pleasure.
