LOAD MANAGEMENT

If multiple electric cars are charging at the same time, the available capacity of the network connection may not be sufficient. In order to ensure that all vehicles are serviced nevertheless, the SMATRICS load management coordinates the charging processes with one another, e.g. by reducing the charging output or arranging for the vehicles to charge consecutively – and all, of course, adjusted to meet your individual requirements. This saves network connection fees and also leaves leeway for the future.

We are committed to efficient charging

Are you planning to set up or do you already own multiple charging stations?

Is your emphasis on efficient charging for all users?

Is operational security essential for you?

Do you want to avoid major changes to your network connection?

Do you have your own power resources available for use?

Are expansion possibilities for your charging solution important to you?

CHARGING WITH A SYSTEM

Kosten sparen

Decreased costs

The charging capacity of modern cars sets new standards and also demands a corresponding performance from the network connection – in particular if multiple cars are to be charged. With the SMATRICS load management, it is possible to keep the output of your network connection low, since it distributes the energy intelligently. This reduces the connection costs considerably – and the greater the number of charging points, the higher the potential for savings.

  • Optimised use of the network connection output
  • Off-peak charging enables lower energy costs
  • Intelligent energy optimisation
Lastmanagement

Individual charging

Different users have different requirements. While a delivery van has to be back on the road after a short time, others have more time to recharge. The SMATRICS load management takes various factors into account: from the number of vehicles, to the different mileages, all the way to the set arrival and departure times. In this way, your network connection and your electric vehicles are optimally synchronised with one another.

  • VIP charging allows certain users priority charging
  • The usage behaviour of vehicles and drivers are taken into account
  • Prevention against overload
zukünftige Ladelösungen

Ready for the future

With SMATRICS, your charging solution is always improving. The modular structure of the load management enables you to expand as much as you wish – regardless of whether you are planning more charging points, more cars or greater performance capacity in the future. What is more, integration into intelligent software solutions for energy or logistics management is also possible. The future is becoming ever more efficient.

  • Efficient use of your own power sources (e.g. PV system)
  • Embedding into building automation and energy management
  • Interfaces to fleet management and route planning

DETAIL OF SERVICES

Creation of a requirements profile

SMATRICS works with you to record the usage behaviour of the vehicles and drivers, and thus to calculate the energy requirement. Based on this, we design an optimum load management solution. Factors for efficient load management are:

  • Network connection output & power reserves
  • Number of vehicles and charging points
  • Idle times of the vehicles
  • Fixed parking spaces assigned to each vehicle
  • Arrival and departure times
  • Simultaneity factor of charging sessions
  • Flexibility in postponing the start of the charging session according to the time of plugging in
  • Scalability of the system
  • Phase unbalances are taken into account
Local load management via master/slave configurations

With local load management, a fixed maximum output is divided amongst the charging points. This output is defined in a master charging station and transmitted to the slave charging station via a data line. In this way, up to 16 charging points can be integrated into one load management group.

Local load management via a programmable logic controller (PLC)

If the idea is to install hardware from various manufacturers or include additional reference values (e.g. upstream meters) in the control system, a separate Master Control Box is used. In this Master Control Box, the maximum value is set and sent to the slave charging stations. This load management system is particularly suited for highly scalable facilities with up to 200 charging points.

Central load management by the Charge Point Management System charVIS

With a central load management system, the back-end regulates the individual charging stations. Timetables are sent to the charging stations – each vehicle can be controlled variably and individually.

Strategies for optimisation
  • Infrastructure: Peak shaving and prevention of local maxima (limited network connection output, cable sizing, sub-distribution/fuses)
  • Network charges: Minimisation of the three highest 1/4-hour average power values (company load profile required)
  • Energy procurement: Transfer of the charging from peak to off-peak times (future feature)
